Hi XXXXXX,

Below is the reply I received from the club. I am very familiar with the area Louise references. 96 Avenue is a beautiful paved and grassed area alongside the new (and very impressive) Main Stand at Anfield. The area is named for the 96 Liverpool supporters who lost their lives in the Hillsborough tragedy and includes the Hillsborough memorial as well as statues and monuments to great figures in Liverpool FC’s history. I always visit the area when I go to the ground as my family has an engraved stone included in the paved area. I believe the area suggested by Louise would be a very fitting area to honor your friend’s final wish as it is very definitely part of Anfield.

If you need additional assistance, please let me know. If you wished to visit the area perhaps after a F2F GMT meeting, I would be pleased to accompany you. If a member of your friend’s family wishes to visit the area and needs someone to guide them, let me know. My brother-in-law or one of my nephews could perhaps help – they are also Liverpool fans.

Response from the club:

Dear XXXXXX,

Thank you for contacting Liverpool Football Club.

On behalf of everyone here at the Club, the directors, players and staff, I would like to offer our sincere condolences to your colleague following the loss of his friend.

The Club does not facilitate the scattering of ashes in or around Anfield Stadium. As part of Anfield’s Main Stand expansion project, a specially designed garden area is now situated in the Main Stand’s public realm area on 96 Avenue. This quiet, intimate garden provides fans with a peaceful area to sit and reflect at the home of Liverpool Football Club.

Thank you for your understanding and for your continued support of Liverpool Football Club.

Kind regards

 XXXXXXX
